The SK-N-MC cell line was once believed to have originated from the supraorbital metastatis of a neuroblastoma but is now believed to have originated from an Askin's tumor. These cells are fibroblast-like cells that grow in a monolayer and considered a pseudodiploid human female (XX) cell line. The cell line exhibits epithelial cell morphology and are neuroblastoma cells.
